Bali’s Not So Ordinary Hotel Stays

1. Stay in a bubble on the beach – Bubble Hotel

This Bubble tent is a new trend that’s gaining popularity in a few countries. Your accommodation is literally a bubble on the beach!

Can you imagine waking up on stretches of soft sand beaches while the sea crashes merely metres away from you?

Since the tent is transparent, there are no secrets, it’s just a king-size bed in a bubble 10 metres from the sea. Needless to say, there isn’t air-conditioning.

Each bubble can fit two people, but if you’re traveling in a group, the staff at Bubble Hotel can set up three more bubbles in close proximity. Upon request, breakfast sandwiches, lemonade, candlelight dinners, and campfires can also be prepared for you!

Now you’re probably wondering where to keep your bags and where the bathroom is. There’s actually a secure storage area provided to stash your things as well as a private toilet and shower area.

From your bed, you’ll get to enjoy unobscured views of the ocean as well as the stunning star-studded sky if you happen to stay on a clear night. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful Bali greenery, and if you’re keen to cook on the beach, you can request for a BBQ too!

2. Fireflies over the streams and paddy fields at Firefly Eco Lodge

Located in central Ubud, Firefly Eco Lodge offers a bamboo cottage quietly nestled in the rice paddies. The walls and ceiling of the cottage are made with intricately laid woven bamboo, so you can expect to feel the cool Bali breeze in the evenings, and the warmth of the sun in the morning.

Once you’re awake and ready for breakfast, your meal will be delivered out on the patio overlooking the rice fields.

If you’re hungry at any time, you can order an array of snacks, and if you’d like dinner under the stars, the staff will prepare a traditional Balinese meal with fresh ingredients from their organic garden. The lodge provides a cell phone to guests so if you need anything at anytime, the staff is just a call away.

You will be amazed by how peaceful it is at the cottage. With its open-air concept, you’ll hear the small stream just below the cottage, and at nighttime you might just see fireflies light up the night.

Along with a comfortable bed and small loft area, the cottage has an attached bathroom with a modern toilet and rain shower. Thoughtfully decorated, the cottage has lovely touches such as a shell chandelier and fresh marigold flowers at the head of the bed.

As you’re out walking through the fields, keep an eye out for the resident goat! Often, breakfast is served with fresh goat cheese thanks to that guy.

One of NewEarth Haven’s latest projects, the Crystal Dome, is an ecologically-conscious two story dome submersed in beautiful Bali nature. The Dome was brilliantly built to allow guests to rejuvenate in an energetic and serene setting.

Made of natural materials and bamboo, the Eco Dome was intentionally designed to blend in with the environment. Being mindful of nature, the Crystal Dome has a composting toilet and local water capture.

But living with this ecological vision doesn’t mean taking away your modern comforts – fret not, you will still have access to features such as wifi, power outlets, and touch panel lighting. There is also a designated “work space” on the ground level of the dome so that you can balance your time between nature, work, and play.

The bedroom is fitted with a spacious California king bed. As you’re lying in bed at night, you can look up at the stars through the skylight at the top of the dome. On the second storey of the dome, you can sit at the window seat and enjoy tranquil views of the surrounding rice fields and jungle.

With just a few minutes’ walk through the rice fields, you’ll end up at Akasha Restaurant and Juice Bar. Akasha is known for its delicious vegetarian (primarily vegan) dishes and raw desserts. So if all the rest and relaxation has worked up your appetite, head over to Akasha for a tasty, healthy meal!

A slightly smaller version of Hideout Bali, the Hideout team calls Hideout Lightroom the younger sibling of Hideout Bali. To construct this all-bamboo masterpiece, local village craftsmen were even engaged to make the furniture from bamboo!

Hideout Lightroom sits next to a little river stream in the rice fields of Selat. Nestled between two villages and near the base of Gunung Agung, Hideout Lightroom offers an authentic experience of Balinese life.

Other outdoor perks include a full-size bathtub where you can bathe in flowers and essential oils while basking in the sunlight. There is also a beautiful rain shower surrounded by swaying palm trees and other tropical greenery.

Inside Lightroom, there is a queen size bed, cozy sitting corner, and small kitchen space. Though Hideout does not prepare breakfast for you, they will stock the kitchen area with bananas, bread, and peanut butter as well as plates, bowls, utensils, and a kettle for tea and coffee, so you can make your own meal in the morning!

Since Hideout Lightroom was built in a natural landscape, there are a few creatures that might wander around nearby. There is also a friendly dog and cat who live around the Hideout space so feel free to say hi or give them a cuddle!

5. Sleep with the lions at Mara River Safari Lodge, Gianyar

6. Stunning Eco-Friendly Jungle Retreat – Villa Pererepan

Here, what could be more romantic than being in bed together with your soulmate, watching fireflies casting their light over the beautiful jungle view?
